Stress Test and Echo

Today I went to the clinic to have a stress test and Echo done of my heart. The echo is funny. It's just an ultrasound of your heart. It was just like the ultrasound for pregnant women. I saw my own beating heart, just like I saw Sarah's and Hannah's before her. I heard it all squishy sounding, pumping blood through my body. And the goop was just as goopy as I thought it would be.

Next I did the Stress Test, which is basically them working you out on a treadmill while they take your blood pressure and monitor your heart rate at each level of speed/dificulty. This is weird, I guess it's like being a professional athlete. I'm shirtless with about ten heart monitors attached to my chest and torso. There were two nurses watching me, talking to me, taking my BP, one guy nurse administering the monitor and printing off my charts, and whatever else. And two other nurses would walk in, say something, look at me, then leave. I was doing pretty good until the final phase where I was running uphill (felt like up the wall) for a couple minutes. But, I finished. I was feeling those 3 beers I had watching Letterman last night for sure.

Speaking of Letterman, I remember when he had his quadruple bypass, he had his stress test done in the morning and they did the bypass later that day. I guess when they see something they don't like, they call you immediately. So, if they don't call me today or tomorrow and tell me to come back immediately, I will feel that I am somewhat out of the woods, as far as heart isssues go. I'll be sitting next to the phone for sure.
